Christian Nation or Just a Nation of Citizens

According to research, the statistics from 2002 reflect Christianity at 82% in the United States, yet the comment that we are not a Christian nation echoes in my head. A more recent study with a sample size of 35,556 individuals still holds a majority of people believing in God at 71% nationally. This study incorporated people from Evangelical churches, Mainline Churches, Historically Black Churches, Catholics, Mormons, Orthodox, Jehovah’s witnesses, other Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, other Faiths, and Unaffiliated. So it seems that I can conclude that ‘we the majority’ are in fact one nation under God and that we are not just a generic nation of ‘just citizens’.
